Thanks to the superb photography collections which were part of prestigious museums worldwide, the quantity and quality of works by master photographers available through Scala was impressive; but in recent years it has grown to be even more so!
In recent years, in fact, on top of the many acquisitions by museums and collections already represented, Scala was chosen by some among the major and most respected institutions in the world of photography: the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson Arizona and The Ansel Adams Trust. The photography collections and photographers’ archives which are now available through Scala has thus became truly astounding!
The Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona, Tucson is the most prestigious university institution for the study of Photography. The CCP, as the Center is often referred to, consists of roughly 2200 photographers and 110,000 works including archival material such as correspondence, writings, audiovisual materials, memorabilia, books, newspapers, and auction catalogs.
The name Ansel Adams is internationally renowned and his black and white images, often capturing with astounding clarity and depth the American West and National Parks, are nothing short of iconic. Scala is honored to have been entrusted by the Ansel Adams Trust to assist in licensing his works. Ansel Adams was deeply interested in environmental conservancy and now more than ever his work and his beliefs are relevant to people of all cultures and ages.
Lastly, Scala has been entrusted by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux-Grand Palais to manage directly the copyright of several renowned photographers whose estates were bestowed to the French state.
Scala Archives is proud to represent these collections and to handle the artists’ copyrights of some of its Master Photographers’.
